Beretta M9

This gun, once again, is used by the SOS.

The Beretta M9 is used by the American military as their primary sidearm. It fires 9x19mm Parabellum rounds. It fires bullets at 381 metres per second and has an effective range of 50m.

It does not seem that good in comparison to the other weapons I have posted about. The range is a lot less and the bullet velocity isn't that good, either. But it is a reliable sidearm. Every single part that makes up the gun is inter-changable, which is useful if something breaks or is damaged during a fight.

In the testing of this weapon, it has survived temperatures between minus forty and +60 degrees Celsius, being soaked in salt water, being dropped repeatedly on concrete and being buried in sand, mud and snow. This makes it useful in nearly any situation that might arise, and it is the reason why I chose it for the SOS.

The magazine for the M9 is fifteen rounds, and the gun weighs 952g and 1,162g when it's loaded. It is the lightest gun that I have done a post on so far and, since it's a pistol, this is not surprising.

This gun has featured in soooooooo many films, tv shows and video games I cannot even start to mention them all. Everything including any US military people, it's featured in.

All in all, a reliable and solid sidearm. Perhaps not the best of choices for specialised people due to the fact some criticisms have been made concerning its stopping power. But it is good for governments and armies due to its low cost and good reliability.

However, if you wanted a better suited handgun, the Sig Sauer P226 would probably be your best choice. It costs quite a bit more, though.

Colt M4 Carbine

This gun is used by the SOS (Special Operations of the Supernatural) - a government agency that features in my fanfic.

So this is the M4 Carbine. It is a more compact version of the M16 rifle, though they share many of the same parts.

I made this gun used by the SOS because it's a good gun. Being a Carbine, it has a higher range than the MP5A3. It has an effective range of 500m.

It also has many attachments that can be used. This means that you can swap them to suit any environment. You could even, especially in an urban battlefield, attach a sniper scope and switch it to semi-automatic and shoot people like that.

Alike to the M16, the M4 can have many attachments fitted on to it. An example of these are foregrips (like handles - allow you to shoot a lot more accurately and it's easier to steady), numerous sights and scopes, bipods (used to steady the gun against surfaces or the ground - mostly used for precision-shooting), the M203 or M320 grenade launchers (good for knocking down doors - or buildings), the M26 MASS (it fires a shotgun round and is situated underneath the barrel, like the grenade launchers). The M26 MASS is good for close-quarters combat, again particulary in urban environments.

The M4 Carbine is used by many of the U.S. Special Forces.

It fires 5.56x45mm NATO bullets with a 30 round magazine. It can fire between 700 and 950 rounds per minute and spits them out at about 884m/s.

The M4 Carbine has been used in many films, such as Air Force One, Black Hawk Down, X-Men 2, The Hulk, Terminator 3, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Bad Boys II, Batman Begins, Transporter 2, Divergence, Mission Impossible III, Ghost Rider, Spiderman 3, one of the Die Hard movies, 28 Weeks Later, Transformers, Cloverfield, The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, Tropic Thunder, Fast and Furious, G.I. Joe - Rise of Cobra, Ironman 2, The A-Team, Knight and Day, Inception, Salt, Battle: Los Angeles, Thor, Tower Heist, Battleship, The Avengers and the Amazing Spiderman.
Also many video games, too. Battlefield 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, Saints Row 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Just Cause 2, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Homefront, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Saints Row The Third and... I can't be bothered to name the rest. There's lots.

Heckler & Koch MP5A3

Hello to all readers. This blog is for if I have confused you during any part of my fanfic and/or Dead Reaping.
It is also just for general information - so if there's a weapon you want me to describe then just comment and I'll do a post on it.

I do consider myself quite a bit of an expert when it comes to weapons (firearms especially) - but none of it is to do with video games. Just to point that out.

And for the first post, the Heckler & Koch MP5A3.

My favourite firearm.

So this is the gun. As you can tell, made in Germany (West, to be precise). It is a sub-machine gun, which basically means high rate of fire and plenty of power in a small package.

The name. Heckler & Koch are the manufacturer, meanwhile the MP5 stands for "machine pistol model 5". Of course, it is translated into English. So the actual German way of saying it is "Maschinenpistole 5".

The MP5 is one of the most common sub-machine gun in the world, so if you ever find yourself in a combat situation, chances are you're going to find one.
This gun has been adopted by LOADS of law enforcement agencies throughout the world, such as the SAS.

The gun was first designed between 1964 and 1966, and has been in production since 1966 until like... now. It's still in production.

Notice how I keep mentioning "MP5", whilst the post is about the "MP5A3". The "A3" is just a variation - one of over a hundred - of the same gun. As why I like the A3 version, I will talk about in a while.

So, the general details of the gun. It's a 9mm sub-machine gun, meaning it fires 9x19mm Parabellum rounds (the most popular type of bullet with handguns).

The MP5A3 weighs about 3.1kg, one of the heaviest of the MP5 models. But still, 3.1kg isn't very heavy so it's a very mobile gun. Much more mobile than a rifle or a machine gun.
It fires 800 rounds per minute and spits bullets out at about 400m/s.
The MP5A3 is a close-quarters weapon. It has an effective range of about 200m, but its general accuracy will be reduced when firing in full automatic due to the recoil etc.

And how to load it? It can take a 15, 30 or 32 round detachable magazine (32 is preferable, though it increases the weight slightly).

So now why I like the MP5A3 more than the MP5. The MP5A3 has an retractable metal stock. This means you can fire it a lot more accurately than more compact versions of the gun, but of course, being retractable, you can make it more compact. This makes the gun more versatile in many combat situations.

The gun is famous (yes, famous) for being a counter-terrorist weapon. It is perfect for close combat and isn't too bad at shooting up to its effective range either.

You may or may not have seen this gun before. It's been in a Die Hard film, a few James Bond films, Transporter 2 and many others. It has even featured in CSI and Doctor Who.

Also, lots of video games. Including: Battlefield 2, Call of Duty 4, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and San Andreas, Shadow The Hedgehog and Far Cry 3.

So yeah, that is my favourite firearm.
